Amtrak Train Clips Car Stuck Under Railroad Gate in North Tonawanda

There were no injuries reported Tuesday morning when an Amtrak passenger train grazed a car at a grade crossing in North Tonawanda, according to the North Tonawanda Professional Firefighters Local 1333. Emergency responders were dispatched at 7:10am to the crossing at Ward Road and River Road after receiving multiple calls about a vehicle struck by a railroad crossing arm.

Upon arrival, police discovered the car wedged under the warning gate on the River Road side of the crossing. Fortunately, the woman driving the vehicle was unharmed and there were no injuries reported among the train passengers. An investigation into the incident is underway.

The incident occurred at the Ward Road crossing, which is located just north of the Felton Road crossing where a tragic accident took place on May 17th resulting in the deaths of three individuals when a pickup truck was struck by an Amtrak train.

When not in uniform, the Buffalo Jills had to follow a dress code for public appearances often wearing business casual attire.
