Wilson Fire Results in Death of Two Family Pets, Started by Electric Charger

On 06/03/2024 at approximately 1018hrs, The Niagara County Sheriff's Office Communications Center received a telephone call reporting a fire inside the home at 968 D Street, Dorwood Park, in the Town of Wilson.

Upon arrival of patrol units, all people had safely exited the home. Fire fighters from South Wilson and Wilson Volunteer Fire Companies responded to extinguish the blaze.

There were no injuries reported on scene, but two guinea pigs perished in the fire. The initial investigation appeared to reveal that the fire had begun in a bedroom where an electric hover board was charging. Niagara County Origin and Cause will be investigating the fire. The Red Cross was contacted and will be assisting the family.
