Air Force Airman Traveling to Niagara Falls for Duty Seriously Injured After Tour Bus Crash


A tour bus filled with tourists and other passengers on their way to Niagara Falls crashed early Thursday morning leaving 28 people injured. The accident prompted a massive emergency response to the scene around 7:10am.


First responders arrived and observed the tour bus flipped over with trapped passengers inside. Occupants were quickly transported to four local hospitals for treatment. 16 patients were admitted to Strong Memorial Hospital with one in critical condition and several others suffering from serious injuries. Another 15 patients were treated at Unity and Rochester General Hospital with three being transferred to Strong for further care.



Among the injured was 21-year-old Montriel Humble who a member of the Air Force who was on her way to Niagara Falls for duty. Her mother-in-law, Michelle Key, shared the details of the crash with WHAM, stating, "She had to crawl out of the bus, and she called me on the phone saying she needed to get to the hospital."


Key expressed relief that Humble survived, but noted the severity of her injuries which will require five surgeries.



Dr. Michael Kamali, chair of emergency medicine at URMC, described the range of injuries sustained by the passengers as including head injuries, extremity injuries, and torso injuries resulting from the blunt trauma of the crash.


Monroe County’s Office of Emergency Management is providing assistance to those affected.
