Niagara Falls Police responded to Tops on Portage Road around 1pm on September 4th after reports of a suspicious vehicle.
Upon arrival, officers spoke to the 911 caller who stated that they were watching the vehicle, a grey Ford F-150, on Cameras from Tops and observed what appeared to be a long gun inside the vehicle. The 911 caller further stated that the suspects were white males wearing yellow hoodies and black sweatpants.
While searching the area, officers located the vehicle near the Coastal Gas Station on the 600 block of 19th Street and observed the matching description of a male leaving the vehicle (male #1).
Officers detained that individual who gave a fake name. Fortunately, officers were able to ascertain his actual identity. He was placed under arrest for failing to identify himself correctly and lying about his identity.
Another officer detained the driver (male #2) who gave officers permission to search the vehicle. While conducting the search, a henry repeating arms rifle was found in the vehicle. Detectives arrived on scene and took possession of the firearm.
Male #1 was transported to police headquarters for booking and processing where he was released with an appearance ticket. There were no charges for male #2. No further information is available at this time
