79-Year-Old Woman Struck and Killed by Post Office Vehicle


An accident on Sunday morning resulted in the death of a 79-year-old woman after she was struck by a USPS delivery vehicle while crossing Main Street in East Aurora. The incident occurred around 10am at the intersection of Main Street and Olean.



The victim, identified as Mary E. Kerwin of East Aurora, was transported to ECMC by Mercy Flight but shortly thereafter succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. Witnesses reported that Kerwin was crossing Main Street when the USPS vehicle made a right turn from Olean Street and struck her.


The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and has been cooperative with law enforcement. As of now, no charges have been filed against the driver and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.



In a statement, the USPS expressed their sorrow over the loss, saying, “The U.S. Postal Service and its employees are deeply saddened by the loss of a member of the East Aurora community. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family.”



The organization is conducting their own investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. No further information is available at this time.
