On August 25th, 2024, at 15:14 hours, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office Communications Center received multiple calls reporting a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Lower Mountain Road and Baer Road in the Town of Cambria. NCSO patrol arrived and discovered a two-car motor vehicle collision involving a 2009 Ford pickup truck and a 2006 Mercury sedan.

Two other occupants of the truck were transported to ECMC with minor injuries. Three occupants of the Mercury sedan were also transported to ECMC, including the driver who was airlifted via Mercy Flight due to a severe leg injury.
