22-year-old Male Arrested After Leading Niagara County Sheriff's on Long Police Chase


On August 18th, 2024 at approximately 1247 hours, Deputy Coney observed a black Ford Crown Victoria, with no license plates affixed to the vehicle and operating with numerous equipment violations, traveling southbound on Lockport-Olcott Road in the Town of Newfane. Deputy Coney followed the vehicle west on Ridge Road and activated his emergency equipment to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle failed to yield to the Deputy’s emergency lights and siren, subsequently initiating a vehicle pursuit.



The vehicle continued through the Town of Lockport, Town of Wilson, Town of Porter, and Town of Lewiston where numerous attempts were made to deploy Tire Deflation Devices. During the pursuit, the vehicle struck the stop sign at the intersection of Ridge Road and Burch Road and a small fence in the area. The vehicle also struck a mailbox on Ransomville Road. The vehicle became disabled and the occupants were taken into custody on the 1100 block of Ridge Road.



The male operator was identified as Robert W Crawford II, a 22-year-old male from the Town of Cheektowaga. Robert was charged with Unlawful Fleeing an Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd (A-Misdemeanor), Resisting Arrest (A-Misdemeanor), Obstruction of Governmental Administration 2nd (A-Misdemeanor), Reckless Driving (Misdemeanor), Criminal Mischief 4th (A-Misdemeanor), Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident (Violation), Operating a Motor Vehicle While Registration Suspended or Revoked (Misdemeanor), and numerous Vehicle and Traffic citations.



Robert was transported to the Niagara County Correctional Facility where he was processed and released on Appearance Tickets. No further information is available at this time - 22-year-old Male Arrested After Leading Niagara County Sheriff's on Long Police Chase.
