Niagara Falls Police responded to the Coastal gas station on the 600 block of 19th Street around 1:40am on May 22nd after reports that a car was stolen.
Upon arrival, police spoke to the complainant who stated he had stopped at Coastal to grab a “beer for the night.” He parked his car in front of pump #3 and went inside with the car keys in his pocket. The complainant stated he left the car running but did not think anyone could drive it without the keys.
While at the register with his beer, a good Samaritan came into the store and advised the complainant that someone had taken off with his vehicle. The value of the car is $20,000.
Officers observed security footage which showed a black male wearing a green hoodie, standing in front of the store. The unknown suspect walked up to pump #3, went around to the driver’s side door, got into the car and took off northbound towards Pine Avenue. There was also a male in the video who attempted to stop the suspect from taking the vehicle but was not successful.
Police canvassed the area with negative results. No further information is available at this time.
