Niagara Falls Police responded to the 1700 block of Welch Avenue around 5pm on July 25th after reports of copper and replacement windows stolen during a burglary.
Upon arrival, police spoke with the complainant who stated that this residence is a rental property he owns and hasn’t physically been at since July 12th. He returned to the property on July 19th around 8am and observed a side window on the west side of the house to be smashed.
Entering the home, the complainant saw that two replacement windows were taken. Walking into the basement he observed that all of the copper from the basement ceiling was stripped.
Officers observed the side window to be smashed and the copper in the basement that was taken. However, they did not observe any physical evidence around the residence.
The complainant values the copper at $2,000, windows stolen at $600, and damaged window at $200. It is believed the suspect exited the residence the same way he/they entered. Based on the amount of copper stolen, it is possible there is more than one suspect.
