Niagara County Sheriff's deputies stumbled upon a distressing scene when they raided a residence on Lockport Street. Thirteen dogs, trapped in deplorable conditions and covered in filth, were rescued from the premises.

The dogs' neglect was evident, with their nails so overgrown that some were curling into their paw pads, causing discomfort and hindering their posture. The rescue operation saved the lives of one senior dog, four adult dogs, and eight puppies. However, the dogs' suffering did not end there.

Many of them exhibited dental and eye issues, leaving their future uncertain. Due to infection or injury, one dog is believed to have lost sight in an eye altogether which would result in it being removed. Four animal shelters stepped up to take in the dogs - Buddy's Second Chance Rescue, Nickel City Canine Rescue, Allie & Pals Rescue, and Akron Canine Rescued Angels.

Meanwhile, the homeowner, Jonathan Harding, 39, now faces charges of terroristic threats and animal cruelty, among others. In addition to the dogs, law enforcement also seized multiple firearms from his residence. Harding was arraigned and subsequently released pending further legal proceedings. The rescued dogs are now in the caring hands of the dedicated rescue organizations where they will receive the medical attention, love, and care they so desperately need.
