A Rochester man was apprehended on Friday after allegedly breaking into a woman's residence in Buffalo and subjecting her to a violent assault, according to an announcement by the Buffalo Police Department.
The incident unfolded on Thursday evening when the police received a distressed call from a 12-year-old, crying and afraid, reporting that her mother was being assaulted. Responding swiftly, officers arrived at a residence on the 400 block of Normal Avenue where they heard screams emanating from inside the house.
Upon entering the premises, the officers discovered a severely injured female victim lying on the floor. The victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, claimed that the assailant, a man known to her, had forcibly entered her home, physically and sexually assaulted her, and then fled through a broken window after taking her phone.
The suspect, identified as 35-year-old Adan Mohamed, was arrested following a thorough investigation. Mohamed has been charged with multiple offenses, including first-degree burglary, second-degree strangulation, fourth-degree grand larceny, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, third-degree criminal mischief, third-degree assault, and second-degree harassment.
In addition to the charges related to the assault, Mohamed was also wanted in Rochester for a separate incident, leading to an active warrant for his arrest.
